This is a very rare and unusual piece of antique furniture from around 1875. The unusual factor is the full length locking mechanism that is on the corner of the drawers. One long lock locks all the drawers in unison. This Renaissance Revival burgled walnut tall chest is perfect to hold all your special treasures. Each drawer is felt lined,
probably for the family's sterling silver. The seven graduated drawers are readily visible. The eighth one is a hidden secret drawer at the base. The beveled marble top adds the perfect touch of elegance to this magnificent chest of drawers! We all love antique furniture but this one is particularly nice. Heirloom quality!

Hello. I have a five-drawer chest of drawers with a side lock similar to the one shown above. The drawer fronts have a walnut burl veneer which needs to be repaired on one drawer only. All the drawer pulls are intact, Eastlake style, I believe. I've always felt that something was missing from the top surface and after seeing your video on YouTube, I think that there was probably a marble top.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to price this piece as I attempt to sell it. Any suggestions?
Beds nowadays can be made from various woods or metal. Wooden beds can last very long although they can take up a lot of space. Steel beds are also a good choice. They are not as sturdy as the wooden beds but they are also of good quality and can be very good space savers. sk home furniture
