ANTIQUE ART DECO/NOUVEAU MARBLE VENUS LAMP

This is a true treasure! It is a fabulously carved marble sculpture from the early 1900s. I called her Venus because she reminds me of Botticelli's famous Birth of Venus 1486 painting where Venus is standing demurely on a shell with the wind blowing her hair. The artist did an expert rendition of the 1400s subject which he brought to his early 1900s era. It is pleasing both to Art Deco and Art Nouveau fans. In addition to being a fabulous sculpture it also happens to be a lamp. The base has a bulb which lights up making this even more beautiful! What a perfect accent piece to a special room!
